About us
A simple way to find a local tradie
Find Me A Tradie is a map of tradies across Brisbane, Moreton Bay, the Sunshine Coast and the Gold Coast. You pick a trade and a suburb and see who works near you, then contact them directly.
Why I built it
I'm a local to Moreton Bay. Again and again I've seen people asking around for a local tradie, whether it's a plumber for a burst pipe, an electrician, or someone to fix a fence. There's no real easy way to look one up. You end up relying on word of mouth, a reply to a post, or a search that's mostly ads and lead-selling sites.
I wanted somewhere simple: open a map, choose a trade, see who's nearby and call them. Find Me A Tradie is meant to be a place that connects tradies with the people who need them, without anyone in the middle taking a cut of the job.
How it works
- Search is free. Filter by trade, suburb, distance or council area, and the map and list update together.
- You deal with the tradie directly. Every listing shows the contact details the business has published, such as phone, website, email or socials. We don't book jobs or handle payments.
- Only contactable businesses are shown. If we can't find a way for you to reach a business, it isn't listed.
Where the information comes from
Listings are built from public sources and from tradies themselves:
- The QBCC Licensed Contractors Register is the Queensland Building and Construction Commission's public list of licensed contractors, published as Queensland Government open data. Listings marked ✓ QBCC licensed match a company licence on that register. We only use company licences, never individuals' home addresses.
- Overture Maps Places is an open dataset of business locations and contact details compiled from public business listings. It gives many businesses their map location, phone number and website. © Overture Maps Foundation, CDLA Permissive 2.0.
- Businesses' own websites and public directories were checked by hand, especially for electricians, who are licensed by the Electrical Safety Office rather than the QBCC.
- Tradies can add, update or remove their own listing using the form on the site.
- Australian Bureau of Statistics council-area boundaries and Australian suburb and postcode data place each business in the right suburb and council area.
We refresh the data from time to time, but businesses move, change numbers and close. Before you hire anyone, it's worth checking their licence on the QBCC licence search (or the Electrical Safety Office for electricians), confirming they're insured, and getting a written quote. A listing here isn't an endorsement.
About the Top 10
Each trade has ten Top 10 positions in every council area: Brisbane, Moreton Bay, the Sunshine Coast and the Gold Coast. They're paid placements, which is how the site pays its way. When you search for a trade, that council area's Top 10 appear first, with a gold number and a "Top 10" badge, so you can always tell them apart. Every other listing is free and sorted by distance from the suburb you searched.
For tradies
Being listed is free. If your business is missing, your details are wrong, or you'd rather not be listed, let us know and we'll sort it out:
